I invite you to attend the Broadband & Multimedia Workshop (B&MW). The Workshop is an international meeting on broadband communication network technologies and applications, to be held at the Congress Center, Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computing, University of Zagreb.

We offer an interesting program. The workshop will begin on Monday, November 11th, with three half-day tutorials covering the following "Hot Topics" in broadband and multimedia communications: video compression in multimedia services, virtual reality in a networked environment, and broadband access networks. The conference will start on Tuesday, November 12th. After the opening session, twelve carefully selected papers will be presented. Five of them are invited, and they will be held in five contiguous sessions. We hope that you will find all these versatile topics quite interesting.

Three events will give you additional opportunities to contact your colleagues and to discuss matters of common interest. The first one is an exposition, accompanied by on-going demonstrations. The second one is the Workshop Banquet that will be held at hotel "Palace" in the evening hours on Monday, November 11th. Finally, on Tuesday the 12th, again in the evening hours, a special Free Opinions Session will be held and you are invited to take part in it, actively, or just by listening to the other people's ideas. Topics for that particular session are chosen so as to stimulate a less formal exchange of opinions that might be beneficial for present and future telecommunications in Croatia.

The city of Zagreb is the cultural, historical, scientific and industrial center of Croatia. Zagreb and its surroundings are beautiful at the beginning of November. We hope that you will get involved in the proposed program and that you will not miss the opportunity to participate in the events that will contribute to the telecommunications of the next century.
