Special Session on Enhanced Living Environments (ELEMENT-2017)

Scope and background

The 4th edition of the International Workshop on Enhanced Living EnvironMENTs (ELEMENT-2017), organized as a Special Session within the program of the 14th International Conference on Telecommunications (ConTEL 2017), is dedicated to the dissemination of original contributions to the architectures, techniques, protocols, components, orchestration, choreography and development related to the ELE area. Investigations, discussions and exchange of experiences from different stakeholders’ perspective on AAL technologies are welcome.

The event is organized in the framework of the ICT COST Action IC1303 Algorithms, Architectures and Platforms for Enhanced Living Environments (AAPELE).

Topics of interest

The focus of this workshop is on new architectures, methods, techniques, protocols, components and tools related to the Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) Systems. These may include, but are not limited to the following topics:

  • Sensing and Monitoring
  • ICT instrumentation and Middleware support for Smart Environments
  • Human-Computer Interaction at Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) environments
  • Environment Adaptation based on intelligence
  • Intelligent Healthcare and Homecare Environments
  • Enhanced Living Environments (ELE) Architectures and Platforms
  • Key applications domains.

Paper submission

Prospective authors are invited to submit novel, previously unpublished full papers (up to 8 pages), addressing the topics of interest, for consideration for the special session. For paper formatting, style, and submission guidelines and deadlines, please refer to the Information for Authors. All papers submitted to the special session will be peer-reviewed according to the rules for the ConTEL conference.
Accepted and presented papers will be published in the conference proceedings and submitted to IEEE Xplore as well as other Abstracting and Indexing (A&I) databases.
